Night Life in Batujimbar, Sanur

For the first night spent in Bali, we did not travel to other places for dinner but opted eating at some restaurant nearby. Why go somewhere else when you haven’t even explored your neighborhood?

We walked around the streets and stopped by at several shops just to browse. The clothes sold there sure aren’t cheap! I don’t know why people wold tell you that shopping in Bali is cheap, but it definitely wasn’t for me! The boutiques there has prices that are similar to Bangsar shopping. Yup you heard me right, it was madness!

Those dresses costs around RM200. :/

Shops selling statues either made out of wood, bones, stones, are in abundance! You’ll see them everywhere you go. So it’s perfect for restaurant owners or just people who would like to decorate their houses, to shop! These statues aren’t too expensive. Rather affordable i would say if you own a big house or a big restaurant.

I wonder what’s this Frog Dance. Didn’t get to check it out.

The restaurant we had our dinner was directly outside where the villa estate was located. Cafe Batujimbar.

I forgot what’s this. Nasi Padang or something like that. Hehe.

Grilled fish with Salsa. Well as you may notice we ordered lots of Western food as well. There wasn’t much choice of Indonesian food anyway. Even the guy who brought us around told us Indonesian food is almost the same and doesn’t have a wide variety. Nasi Padang, Nasi Campur, Gado Gado, Soto, Lontong, what else?

Beef Fajitas with Guacamole which sucked. I hate Fajitas.

And throughout the dinner i only had a little bit of the fish and one Fajitas. The food wasnt that great. Drank two cups of Pineapple+Tangerine juice though. I LOVE FRUIT JUICE!!!! ♥

The Villa

Are you guys as excited to see the villa as i am showing it?

Okay this post is filled with photos! All the photos I’ve taken in the villa. But it’s still not the whole place as the structure of it is like this, the place is divided into sections, like 6 or 7 little bungalow in one compound with a swimming pool in the middle.

So the first section, is what i call the common room. We eat there, watch tv there, play playstation or nintendo wii there, just basically chill there before everyone goes to bed.

And the middle section, the pool area.

And the next bungalow has three guest rooms, mine was on the ground floor.

Check out the outdoor shower! Coolness. The worker assured me that it’s safe as it’s private property and no trespassers are allowed.

The reason why i say the workers there are super dedicated and hardworking is that everytime i leave the room, even just for lunch, i come back and my room is cleaned and tidied up again.

And even fold my clothes. .

Even my stuff, they put it in a neat pile. How awesome are they!

On the last day before left i even took a photo with the kakak i like the most. I didn’t ask for her name though. But she was so nice that i felt sad leaving!

And the next section, i call it the beauty room.

Manicure, pedicures, everything!

Massage beds. This was where most of the time we had our massages. We just hire the masseurs back to the villa. It’s double the price, but you don’t have to walk out late at night.

And next, the area opposite the pool area!

This is where there’s a long table and fully equipped kitchen. For events and parties.

Fun Fact: The plant growing down onto the wall is called Lee Kuan Yew. HAHA! Not sure of the spelling but it’s pronounced that way.

And the last section i actually saw, is the bungalow for the owner to stay when he comes to Bali. It’s like a holiday home for him. Shiok right.

Bali (part I)

Herro! I’m back! Sorry for not updating my blog recently, cause having just got back from a holiday trip, and having more than 1000 photos in your camera is not easy to organize! So i just resized them all, and maybe brighten some. If anyone expects me to edit even half of it is either nuts, or has never edited photos before!

Anyway, this is my second time typing out this post cause the first time i wrote it, (very long with pictures already) somehow it disappeared and wasn’t autosaved as draft. Yes i am extremely furious but i have to rewrite it don’t i?

So the Bali trip was 6D 5N, i lived in a private villa in Batujumbar, Sanur. The place was fucking gorgeous, definitely like nothing i’ve seen before. It’s like one of those houses in MTV cribs!

As i mentioned i took more than one thousand photos during the trip, so to make things easier imma divide my post into small sections based on location/activity.

The Departure

To get to Denpasar, Bali, we took AirAsia as MAS tickets were unavailable on the dates we wanted, apparently. So my ticket cost RM1100. So we arrived LLCT early in the morning and i was starving! And where to have breakfast better than Coffeebean? They serve the most hearty breakfast, especially their Egg’s Ben! Awesomeness.

Egg’s Ben! Must try if you go by to Coffeebean! The yummy combination of cheese and eggs! ♥

Nowadays i tend to go for fruit juices rather than sweet, ice blended drinks. Although if I’m at Starbucks, i won’t miss their Green Tea Latte!

I used to have the big breakfast everytime at Coffeebean, but not after i tried their Egg’s Ben! Egg’s Ben FTW!

I actually find the Malaysian Passport really ugly. Like I’m fine with the red and gold, but the logo and font, urgh. No wonder so many people use passport holders lar, not to protect the passport but to hide it. HAHAA.

Tip: If you ever take AirAsia and is thinking of picking the Hot Seats, (you need to pay an additional RM15 per way but you get to pick the seats from the first 5 or 6rows) well don't if the very first row is all taken. By paying for the Hot Seats not only do you get Express boarding (need not que up, can cut que), AirAsia also claim to have larger leg room. But not tru! Only the first row get more leg room. The second row onwards all same! So my advice is save up your RM30!

The Arrival

Okay no photos during the flight cause i took travel sickness pills and was sleeping throughout.

Wah AirAsia seriously can’t take any flight that’s more than one hour. the seat is damn upright! How the hell are you gonna get any rest without getting a sore neck, i don’t know.

And finally we’re at Bali! It was my first time to Bali, or to Indonesia as a matter of fact, so i was so excited!

For this trip i went with joey and his parents and this trip was a half business, half leisure kinda thing, so it basically means there will be lotssa furniture hunting, building structure seeing.

When we arrived at the airport there was already someone waiting for us. A chauffeur driven Toyota Alphard. Nice!

After driving for roughly half an hour, we arrived at the villa! I was so excited to check it out as it’s a private villa and i know it’ll sure be very nice.

And i was right! The place looks fucking amazing! The whole deco and structure was so nice, it’s the nicest I’ve seen!

Once we arrived we were greeted by the staff there with welcome drink and wet towels to freshen up. The people working there all seems to be on a mission – make you feel like royalty. The moment you walk near the sliding door, they’ll rush straight away to open it for you.

It’s crazy. There’s free laundry service, and a in-house chef, to cook anything your heart desires for you.

Our first meal after arriving, Nasi Campur. Very nice! The egg’s my personal favorite. There was some kinda super spicy sambal on it and everything was just perfect.

After each meal everyone of us are served with a plate of fresh fruits. Everyday!

The owner of the villa had two puppies! Both three months old! here’s the pug, i forgot his name. So cute right?

Two Screenings in a Row!

STEP UP 3

When i knew i was chosen as the featured blogger on Feeqsays Network, what i didn’t know was the whole lot more that was gonna come my way.

Roughly two or three weeks after being featured, i receved an email from Feeq, that as a token of appreciation, he would like to give me two free passes to the premier screening of Step Up 3 by Advertlets. After reading the email i was so excited! It was my first screening!

The screening was held at Tropicana City Mall, and we had to go collect our tix at 8pm.

On the way to TCM.

We arrived there slightly before eight and saw a very long que, all waiting to register and collect the passes.

So we queued up for around 10minutes? And turns out those people queuing up wrote a blog post to win the two passes to the screening. So the girl at the counter couldn’t find my name, so i approached Feeq and he said the passes were with his boss. So that was the first time i met the founder of Advertlets, Mr. Josh lim. He introduced himself and he was sooo friendly! I was also introduced to another Advertlets guy, Jason Ong.

I did not join them for dinner though. Too shy. :P HAHA.

So finally the movie started! Sadly i did not watch Step Up 1 & 2 , so i didn’t know what to expect.

The beginning of the movie i was already blown away!

Needless to say through out the whole 1hour 47 minutes my mouth was wide opened in awe! Yes it was blardy awesome! Thank god no drooling.

The dance moves were all superb! My personal favorite was the popping, ( i have no idea whether it’s called popping ) the one where the guy dances like a robot? WOWOWOWOWOW!!!! So cool! Inever understood how is it possible for someone to make it so incredibly surreal!

Anyway here’s the synopsis: New York’s intense street dancing underground comes alive in eye-popping Digital 3D in the third installment of the “Step Up” franchise as the raw, passion-fuelled culture goes global. A tight-knit group of street dancers, including Luke (Rick Malambri) and Natalie (Sharni Vinson), team up with NYU freshman Moose (Adam Sevani), and find themselves pitted against the world’s best breakdancers in a high-stakes showdown that will change their lives forever.

Till today the movie is still No.1 in the top ten movies in GSC! Imagine how AWESOME it is! Definitely one of the best i’ve watched this year.

MUST WATCH!

So anyone who hasn’t watch it, move your asses now!

CATS AND DOGS: THE REVENGE OF KITTY GALORE

Just before i departed to Bali last week, i received another email from Feeq saying that there’s another movie screening that he would like to invite me to, this time Cats and dogs, at GSC Mid Valley.

The screening date is on the day im coming back from Bali, so, it was really rush for me. But who’d give up a chance for a movie premier?

On Wednesday i arrived KL at around 6pm, and i had to be at Mid Valley at 8.30pm. PHEW!

After taking photos, and some mingling around it was show time!

Well I’ve always been a dog person, and i absolutely hate cats, so this movie was definitely for me! It’s all about dogs (and a cat and a pigeon ) fighting against a cat villian, Kitty Galore!

I’ve always loved any movies involving dogs, but this isn’t one of my favorite. The way they make the dogs talk, like how the dog’s mouth moves looks kinda fake. Although some of the lines from the lead actor dog, Diggs made me laugh out loud, but other than that the movie was very ordinary.

You can watch it if you’re looking for a relaxing comedy for a lazy weekend, where you just don’t wanna use anymore of your brain. Should be great with kids too!

Why the US is in Deep Trouble

A DC airport ticket agent offers some examples of why…

1. I had a New Hampshire Congresswoman (Carol Shea-Porter) ask for an aisle seat so that her hair wouldn’t get messed up by being near the window. (On an airplane!)

2. I got a call from a Kansas Congressman’s (Moore) staffer (Howard Bauleke), who wanted to go to Cape Town. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information, and then he interrupted me with, ”I’m not trying to make you look stupid, but Cape Town is in Massachusetts.” Without trying to make him look stupid, I calmly explained, ” Cape Cod is in Massachusetts, Cape Town is in South Africa.” His response — click.

3. A senior Vermont Congressman (Bernie Sanders) called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that’s not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, ‘Don’t lie to me. I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!” (OMG)

4. I got a call from a lawmaker’s wife (Landra Reid) who asked, ”Is it possible to see England from Canada ?” I said, ”No.” She said, ”But they look so close on the map.” (OMG, again!)

5. An aide for a cabinet member (Janet Napolitano) once called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. I pulled up the reservation and noticed he had only a 1-hour layover in Dallas. When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, ”I heard Dallas was a big airport, and we will need a car to drive between gates to save time.” (Aghhhh)

6. An Illinois Congresswoman (Jan Schakowsky) called last week. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:30 a.m., and got to Chicago at 8:33 a.m. I explained that Michigan was an hour ahead of Illinois, but she couldn’t understand the concept of time zones. Finally, I told her the plane went fast, and she bought that.

7. A New York lawmaker, (Jerrold Nadler) called and asked, ”Do airlines put your physical description on your bag so they know whose luggage belongs to whom?” I said, “No, why do you ask?” He replied, ”Well, when I checked in with the airline, they put a tag on my luggage that said (FAT), and I’m overweight. I think that’s very rude!” After putting him on hold for a minute, while I looked into it. (I was dying laughing). I came back and explained the city code for Fresno, Ca. is (FAT – Fresno Air Terminal), and the airline was just putting a destination tag on his luggage.

8. A Senator John Kerry aide (Lindsay Ross) called to inquire about a trip package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, ”Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii ?”

9. I just got off the phone with a freshman Congressman, Bobby Bright from Alabama who asked, “How do I know which plane to get on?” I asked him what exactly he meant, to which he replied, ”I was told my flight number is 823, but none of these planes have numbers on them.”

10. Senator Dianne Feinstein called and said, ”I need to fly to Pepsi-Cola, Florida. Do I have to get on one of those little computer planes?” I asked if she meant fly to Pensacola, FL , on a commuter plane. She said, ”Yeah, whatever, smarty!”

11. Mary Landrieu, Louisiana Senator, called and had a question about the documents she needed in order to fly to China. After a lengthy discussion about passports, I reminded her that she needed a visa. “Oh, no I don’t. I’ve been to China many times and never had to have one of those.” I double checked and sure enough, her stay required a visa. When I told her this she said, ”Look, I’ve been to China four times and every time they have accepted my American Express!”

12. A New Jersey Congressman (John Adler) called to make reservations, ”I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York.” I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ”Are you sure that’s the name of the town?” “Yes, what flights do you have?” replied the man. After some searching, I came back with, ”I’m sorry, sir, I’ve looked up every airport code in the country and can’t find a rhino anywhere..”
The man retorted, ”Oh, don’t be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!” So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ”You don’t mean Buffalo, do you?” The reply? ”Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.”
