Prego’s
Aug 26th
I feel so relieved! At least for today. Finally completed my UCAS application for next years intake, one down, countless to go! Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada? , what else? I really don’t feel like applying to the US d. SAT is too much for me if i have to take STEP.
Meanwhile, i have so many plans for my gap year! I wanna work, dance, hopefully get back to shape and compete in next year’s solo ballet competition, erm erm go for holiday, and oh shit take further maths. Does anyone know if i can take only AS further maths? But then i wouldn’t be able to take the exam right since there’s no AS further maths paper. Hmmm forgot to check with the office today when i was there.
Anyway, last weekend had dinner at Prego’s, Westin Hotel.
Carbonara which wasn’t nice.
Quattro cheese pizza.
Urgh suckiest mushroom soup with truffle oil. Bleh.
Beef carpaccio. Why must this dish always be served with Parmesan cheese and rocket? I don’t find that they go along at all. Hmmm.
Tiramisu.
Super fab wild mushroom risotto on the right; Foie Gras something on the left.
Fancy place with overpriced food. Great service but still, mediocre food.
I’m flying off to Bali this Friday and i haven’t packed a single thing. Oh well. Have a good week ahead! ♥
Taylor’s Award Ceremony
Aug 24th
Just finished watching episode 13 of Summer’s Desire. Yes i bought the complete dvd already but i didn’t had any time to watch it, now when i wanna watch it, it’s not here with me FML.
Anyway, in this episode luo xi said something which i found really meaningful despite how much i dislike him. It’s the script anyway. Lol.
“请上天赐我一颗平静的心,让我接受不能改变的事;
请上天赐我智慧, 让我改变能改变得事;
请上天赐我勇气, 让我坚持的活下去。”
I personally like it a lot cause it’s just so true and easy to relate to. We should accept what has happened, that can’t be changed anymore, and move on. Easier said than done, but I’ll try. What can still be changed, we must try the hardest to change.
And my brother-in-law told me something today as well. As long as a person has a good heart, even if he/she is lazy, not intelligent, or whatever, just doesn’t seem to matter anymore.
But at my age everything else just seems so important sometimes that you overlook certain good qualities like a good heart.
Anyway, a random post on my weekend.
Last Saturday was the Taylor’s award ceremony, so everyone those who were still in kl, gathered after two months since completing A-levels.
It’s been awhile. My third home for one and a half years.
The BIL. Who ditched me and went for Subway. Had to call a couple of times to tell him that the ceremony’s gonna start. :/
Spot me?
Okay i HATE group photos. Gathering everyone on stage already took 159minutes. Then when there’s like 100 camera down there flashing, you don’t know whether to smile for another 329minutes like some stupid person, or just stand there like a stupid person. Rofl.
Everyone smiled for the official photographer only.
Okay another thing i HATE. Photographers tend to ask people to do stupid things like , “say cheese”, “everyone show peace sign” (hate this the MOST), “everyone put your hands in the air”, etc. Sien!
What i got after waking up so early, listened to three long speeches, and wasted 3hours of my precious weekend.
Rama V, Jalan U-Thant
Aug 21st
A few weeks back i had dinner at Rama V (five), Jalan U-Thant, Kuala Lumpur. They serve fine Thai cuisine and I’ve heard about it from my sister, Sheri.
We arrived there and i instantly thought that the place was soooo pretty!
Walking past a long hall of air conditioned room filled with tables, you’ll enter this garden kinda place with water features. There’s also little compartments for private dinners with huge bouquet of flowers (fake one la) as centrepiece. Nice!
I didn’t bring the camera that day so all these are taken from the Rama V official website.
Also these are only less the half of the food we ordered as other photos are not available. Hehe.

The private rooms. Picture shown without those fake flowers. Boo.
The long hall. The whole place is very dim (can’t tell from pic) and romantic. ♥
Green curry duck with Lychee. Very odd combination i must say, but it was just okay.
Somehow Pandan chicken is something everyone will order when they go to Thai restaurants. Not me and my sisters though. We never order them as we don’t find them “Thai” enough. Like it’s not sour or spicy. Hmmm.
At Rama V they peel the Pandan leaves away for you before serving. Very weird and it’s the first time i’ve seen this, but it saves lotssa hassle.
Deep fried fish with some sweet and sour sauce. Not nice.
Thai fish cakes. This was also so so. Ordinary la, nothing to shout about.
Mieng Kam. Now this was good. Perfect combination of the ingredients and its sweet sauce. Add a few bird eye chillies to spice it up!
The wide array of desserts. They didn’t had a dessert menu so this is how they present their desserts to allow the customers to choose from.
Overall the experience was really nice, but what made me write this was to introduce you guys to the appetizers served in Rama V. one word: AWESOME!
We had three types of appetizers, Mango Salad, Papaya Salad, and Mieng Kam. All very nice!
However, as for main courses, we had beef, Lime and chilli steam fish, deep fried fish, Tom Yam soup, prawns, vegetable, duck, fish cake, well i can’t remember what else, but it wasn’t up to expectation.
For the price it should’ve been a lot better, but it was just very normal. The dishes was also too sweet for my liking.
As for desserts we had Mango sticky rice and it was nice. So if you wanna try really nice appetizers and desserts, go for it.
Cilantro, Micasa Hotel
Aug 14th
Recently after i came back from Singapore Joey wanted to have dinner together. It wasn’t considered a real special occasion, but since we haven’t had dinner for quite sometime, i ditched my sisters. Lol kidding.
He suggested Sage, the fine French-Japanese fusion restaurant in The Gardens Midvalley, but i told him without reservations it’s kinda impossible to just walk in and find a table. So he made a call and i was once again, correct.
There were only tables after 9pm.
I thought 9pm was a tad too late so i said let’s just forget it, but he then suggested the next option, which is the sister company of Sage, Cilantro. Needless to say I’ve read ample good reviews on this also French-Japanese fusion restaurant that’s located at Micasa all-suite hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
So he called and was able to make reservations at 8pm. During my eldest sister Sheri’s wedding, we had lunch there at Micasa so i had no problem locating it.
I was very excited to try it out finally after all the good reviews and it being voted as the best restaurant in Malaysia before. We arrived there slightly later due to the jam and was promptly brought to our table by the staff.

I went for the Degustation menu which consisted of seven courses whereas he went for a main and an appetizer.
Cilantro’s famous Truffle butter was really good.
The complimentary Amuse Bouche. Raw tuna topped with wasabi. OMG so freshhhhhhhh. ♥
Moving on with his choice of main and appetizer.
His appetizer. Unagi with Foie Gras and Mesclun. I actually chose this cause i read bout good reviews on it. It’s so rich!
His main, Braised Tongue with Madeira. Okay he chose this himself. Haha such a weird choice! I loved the mashed potato with truffle though. YUMS.
Then my Degustation menu. . .
First, my pre-appetizers.
Hokkaido Uni with Consomme Jelly. Basically Sea Urchin in jelly and some cream. This was my first time tasting Sea Urchin and it was so special and fresh! Tasted a bit like crab eggs, but there’s just this very uniquely raw ocean taste in it.
Another one of the three pre-appetizers, Ocean Trout with Salted Kelp. I never liked Salmon Sashimi but this was awesome!
The third one, Mizunasu with Tako and Bottarga. Raw octopus on water eggplant.
My appetizer, Pan Fried Foie Gras with Kabu and Cured Duck. Foie Gras has been my favorite ever since i first tasted it and this didn’t disappount a single bit! (I know the process of force feeding the geese is really cruel but it’s so good and i don’t eat it often. :/ )
My third course, Meuniere of Hirame with Maine Lobster and Chanterelles. This was also my first time tasting Lobster and yes the rumour about it tasting like a combination of prawns and crabs is true! IMHO it felt like extra big prawns that tastes like crab.
Next main course, Grilled Wagyu with Garden Vegetables and Summer Truffles.
The waiters there were no doubt very friendly and attentive, but they talk too soft.
The guy stood beside me and mumbled something so i cleverly assumed that he was asking whether to put the plate there so i simply answered: “mmm.” But he continued standing there and after repeating himself for the third time, turns out he was asking whether i’d like some extra vegetables. Lol.
Well i’m never a fan of vegetables.
By the time it the fifth course was served i was actually really full, and the Fedelini Pasta with Pipi Clam and Mizuna was the only dish that was very ordinary.
Finally the desserts were served. .
White Peach and Raspberry Granite.
The white peach brought back memories. It tasted exactly the same as the peach I had when i was in Beijing. . When i was 3years old. I admit my memory is really really bad but i guess nature does work wonders when it comes to taste.
The best chocolate dessert I’ve had. The Trio of Chocolate. So velvety and melts in the mouth. Chocolate-y heaven!
Ended the meal with a cup of tea.

The bill came in a small envelope. So cute!
Everything there was finely crafted and extremely fresh. I, for one who never enjoy seafood was blown away with their raw seafood. Every single thing there is extremely fresh! The flavours exploded in my mouth and everything was just perfect for me.
A RM600 meal for two was definitely the finest meal i’ve had in my life and i enjoyed it immensely.
Thanks for this wonderful experience. ♥
